Core Beliefs

The Bible

The Bible is God's Word to all people and the ultimate authority on truth. It is written by imperfect men under the supernatural inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit, and is a true and fully accurate account of God's plan to bring people back into a relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. It is without error.

God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe. Everything exists because of Him and is sustained by him. He knows everything, see everything, and is everywhere at the same time. He exists eternally, completely outside the limits of time, and is dependent on nothing and no one. He is perfect in holiness and in love. He has always existed as what is called the Trinity: being one God yet at the same time three persons who are co-equally God: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.

The Father

The Father is the head of the Trinity. He is the all-powerful Lord over the universe and the flow of history. He is the Heavenly Father of all who are saved through faith in Jesus Christ, yet is also loving and compassionate towards all men. He is faithful to His people and His promises.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and is therefore fully God. At the same time, He is also fully human. Jesus was born to a virgin by the power of the Holy Spirit. He lived a perfect life without sin and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men through His death on a cross, taking punishment for sin that people deserved. Three days after His death, He rose from the dead, demonstrating His victory over sin and death. After His resurrection, He appeared to many witnesses before He ascended to heaven. He will return one day as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for a relationship with Jesus Christ. He lives in those who receive Jesus as their Savior from the moment of salvation. He provides the follower of Jesus power for the living, understanding of spiritual truth, guidance in doing what is right, and assurance of their relationship with Jesus. He works in the life of a believer to make them more like Jesus and equips them for their role in the advancement of the Church.

People

God created people in His image and for His pleasure. We were created to have fellowship with God, but the sinful disobedience of the first man-Adam-brought sin and death into the world and all humanity, severing the relationship between God and people. As a result of this sin, all of us are born sinful and choose to sin against God. We are incapable of being "good enough" to regain a right relationship with God through our own efforts.
